Hazel Mutch

Creative Facilitator

I love seeing people settle into their group and feel comfortable and accepted. Joining a group can be really challenging and it’s great to see people’s courage pay off.

Being outside helps me a lot, especially when I can get to the woods or the beach, and even better if I take a notebook and do some sketching or journaling.

I enjoy exploring all kinds of creativity and combining different materials, but I especially love painting, felt-making, and writing.

Hazel joined the team at Creative Alternatives in 2016. As one of the Creative Facilitators, she plans and delivers the creative sessions with Sian and Sarah and brings in an expressive writing element to some of the sessions. When planning sessions, she aims to provide people with a creative experience that feels exciting, absorbing, and satisfying.

Hazel has long been interested in the ways creativity helps our wellbeing and has provided creative workshops and courses in day centres, schools, universities, and community centres. She is a qualified integrative therapist and coach and uses imagery, writing, and creative expression in her one-to-one work with people. She is also involved in ongoing training in poetry therapy.

Hazel has always been interested in developing the craft of art and poetry, as well as using them for expression and self-discovery; she studied Fine Art as a second degree subject and has an MA in Creative Writing. Hazel enjoys exploring and sharing holistic practices that help people reconnect with themselves and a sense of wonder, including embodiment, meditation, and visualisation. She benefits herself from everything she provides for other people, knowing we’re all on a healing journey. All of Hazel’s work is trauma-informed and compassion-based.
