I love working with the team and with CA participants. I am constantly delighted by participants’ range of imagination and creativity. It’s a joy to see confidence growing and to feel a part of that.
I’m lucky to live between the sea and the mountains. A swim is my best mood booster, but I love just walking on turf and grass whatever the weather.
Working outdoors! Especially with natural materials like wood and things I find on the beach.
Sian is one of the Creative Facilitators supporting CA’s creative activities. She has been with CA almost from its beginnings in Sefton in 2006. She helps to develop ideas alongside Hazel and Sarah for different kinds of creative projects designed to enable participants to explore them at their own pace. She enjoys bringing a range of materials to the groups from clay to paper – and even shadow puppets and sounds.
Sian has over 25 years’ experience of working in Arts in Health. She has produced commissions for hospitals in North and South Wales as well as in Liverpool, developing ideas through discussion and engagement with staff and patients to create artwork that uplifts the hospital setting. Hospital art boosts mood and wellbeing for both staff and patients, helping recovery. Sian and Sarah Jane have worked on several hospital commissions together. Sian has also had two hospital residencies offering creative activities to outpatients as well as patients. She was based in Glan Clwyd Hospital for several years and when this came to an end, she joined Creative Alternatives.
Her other long running project has been Lost in Art for people living with dementia and their carers based in Ruthin Crafts Centre North Wales.
Sian has a studio in North Wales, where she works with porcelain and wood for exhibitions and installations.
