Creative Alternatives online will provide you with a regular programme of activities that include visual art and expressive writing that aim to improve mental health and wellbeing in many ways. You can take part for up to 12 weeks and as with our usual service we have created a safe and non-judgemental space for people to be creative and meet other people via an online platform. You don’t need any previous experience; the programme is more about getting involved, exploring ideas and enjoying yourself.
Our online service combines a mix of pre-recorded art-activity videos, mindfulness podcasts, interactive forums, live expressive writing video sessions, self-care advice and sign-posting information, relating to both the Covid-19 crisis and to general mental wellbeing.
All the activities have been designed so you can do them in the safety of your own home using innovative art materials that you will already have to hand!
Our next intake is on Friday 8th January from 10.30am-12.30pm, which will start with a welcome & orientation session and then live weekly workshops start the following week for 5 weeks until 12th February.
Live sessions take place on: Thursdays, 2-3pm and Fridays, 11.30am-1pm
Please note: you will be expected to attend at least one of the live sessions weekly as a minimum commitment to the programme.
You will be fully supported to become familiar with the online learning platform we are using, and any technical support you require. It is very user friendly and we will show how you can easily upload artwork, post pictures or post comments in the welcome/orientation session. We aim to make the workshops a relaxing place where you will feel welcome. You will find friendly faces and a time that’s just about you!
To take part in Creative Alternatives online you will need:
• good internet connection
• access to a smartphone, tablet or laptop
• a set of headphones is useful but not essential
• a webcam (built in or added on) to allow other participants to view you (not essential)
